Arctic Opal & Sterling Silver Bear Paw Earrings
In mid summer 1988 a prospector/miner from Fairbanks, Alaska sent us a sample of stone he had discovered in the Wrangell-Chugach mountain area of Alaska. This sample of stone, azurite-malachite, started the search for what we now call ArcticOpal. We have densified the permeable ArcticOpal into a cohesive and integrous block which our cutter can fashion into a multitude of stone sizes. Our workers use the age old process of hand cutting and shaping of all stones. The sterling silver is cut and shaped by hand using the centuries old techniques handed down to our native Americans. The result of all this is a contemporary, elegant and fashionable piece of jewelry.
